Summary

When Davout withdrew from Ratisbon on the 18th he left a garrison of 2,000 men under Coutard to hold the bridge. Kollowrat's corps of 20,000 Austrians were on the north bank of the Danube. Their attack in the evening of the 19th was repulsed. On the 20th a second Austrian force of 26,000 men under Lichtenstein approached from the south. With odds for the forthcoming battle of 40 to 1 against the French surrendered.
