Summary

The Bavarians were in the process of taking the major passes in the mountains close to the Austro-German frontier in order to prevent Austrian withdrawals from southern Germany through the Tirol. After a series of successes they were stopped by a brave and determined defence.

A pass near the northern edge of the Kitzbühler Alpen about 3 miles west of the town of Lofer. (Austria)
