Summary
When Charles V became Holy Roman Emperor it brought in nearly forty years of struggle between the Hapsburgs and Francis l of France. Four separate wars were fought for control of Italy with treaties being made and then broken. The Treaty of Cateau-Cambrésis in 1559 ended the series of wars.
