Summary

Almost a mirror image of the battle at Maudach with the numbers reversed. However only a portion of the Austro-Allied force were involved as the French conducted a speedy organized retreat.

The French withdrew and split their force. Jourdan pulled back westwards into his bridgehead at Neuwied on the Rhine and Kl├ęber moved northwest to an entrenched camp at Dusseldorf also on the Rhine.
