This was the last of a large series of fortresses to be subdued. It was manned by National Guard troops, one Line Infantry regiment plus officer refugees from Waterloo. The attacking force included the British siege artillery train.


Twin fortresses on either side of the river Meuse only 44 miles south of Waterloo and 144 miles northeast of Paris. (France)
