Summary
Attacks were put in all along the line by XV, XIV, III, and II Corps. Some limited gains were made but very few were held. The outstanding success was the capture of Le Sars by troops of III Corps. A tank was used to good effect until it was knocked out by a shell. The British suffered a considrable number of casualties.
