Date(s) : 29 August 1807

Part of : The French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars ,

Outcome : A victory for British Forces over Danish Army

Type of battle : Land

Sir Arthur Wellesley [Wellington] commanded the force which invaded Denmark. The Danes were no match for the experienced British troops and the Kings German Legion. The battle destroyed the Danish field force and ensured that the siege of Copenhagen could proceed unmolested. The British attack on Denmark caused them to become allies of France and upset the Russian Czar who saw himself as protector of the smaller Baltic states.
