Summary
Aetius, the Roman commander in Gaul, [virtual ruler of the western empire] faced the Huns under Attlia. In a battle which lasted most of the day until nightfall neither side gained a clear advantage. The Huns retired in good order to their wagon laager for the night. Aetius did not offer battle on the following day. The battle probably saved Gaul because Attila turned his attentions elsewhere.
