About 1500hrs British and Dutch marines landed on the isthmus to the north of the fortress. The seaward naval attack planned for the next day was postponed because of contrary winds but went ahead on the 23rd. Under cover of the bombardment naval personnel landed on the moles and fought their way to the fortress. Spanish guns captured in a bastion on the mole were turned onto the fortress. The Governor surrended the 'impregnable rock' on the 24th.
